About
Alex Mohr
I build software and, when the job calls for it, the teams that build software. Six years of shipping — from full-stack engineer up to director, and back to hands-on-keyboard by choice — have left me with strong opinions about simplicity, and a soft spot for a well-set page of text.
What keeps me curious is range. I like to experiment and poke at a wide spread of technology — web one week, game engines the next, then down into operating systems to understand how the whole thing actually works. The through-line isn't a single stack; it's the itch to take something apart, figure out why it's built the way it is, and put it back together myself. I've done that since I was a kid pulling apart electronics on the floor to see what was inside — software just gave the habit somewhere endless to go.
Experience
Part of a small, extremely fast-moving team building AI-centered software — the kind meant to shake up its industry and leave the world a little better than we found it. If Tradable Bits was where I learned to walk, this feels like running — toward something good, not away from something bad.
Where I learned to walk as a professional engineer. Grew from full-stack engineer to director, moving up through senior and lead along the way. Spent much of my time hacking at the existing codebase to improve its architecture, and dragging in new and interesting tech to try. Later owned delivery, hiring, and technical direction.
